The famous Lost
Gardens of Heligan are only a
short drive from Morbihan.
The BBC Gardener's World described
Heligan as "The nation's
favourite garden."
The gardens extend
to some 80 acres and was formerly the Tremayne
family seat. Now the site of the largest garden
restoration in Europe, the extraordinary plant
collection together with exotic glasshouses
and mild Cornish climate make it a popular
tourist attraction.
During the the
Great War the gardens gradually went to sleep
although basic maintenance was undertaken
to the grounds around the house.
